Weleda Garden - It's April so it must be Cowslip time

April 2014

This little plant is so associated with this time of year that in Italy and Spain it's known as Primavera (Springtime).

We grow lots of Primula veris in our meadows which are damp but sunny - perfect growing conditions for this dainty, light-filled flowering plant.

When used medicinally, vernal (or spring) flowers tend to assist the rhythmic processes of the body, whilst summer flowers tend to aid the body’s metabolic processes, such as digestion or skin repair.

At Weleda we harvest up to 3 kilos of Cowslip flowers each Spring and make them into a remedy called Onopordon Comp, that helps to regulate and strengthen body rhythms including the circulatory system and the sleeping/waking cycle.
