Weleda Garden - New life in abundance

May 2014

Silver birch at The Field
May is the month when all our native trees are looking their best with their fresh, bright green, new leaves.

The Silver Birch shimmers at this time of year – it really is a tree of the light and air and the Weleda gardeners have just harvested the young leaves to make a fresh plant extract (tincture).

Medicinally, Birch is often used to help with arthritis and rheumatism and it also works as a detox treatment for the skin and body. Examples of Weleda medicines using Birch are Arnica Massage Balm, Birch Juiceand Elixir. In our Natural Organic Cosmetics range we have the Birch Cellulite Oil and Body Scrub, which we recommend using with the Birch Juice or Elixir for a full Spring detox and skin care programme.

Tree pollens are often the trigger for hay fever at this time of year. Tree flowers, although not generally brightly coloured and 'showy', are numerous and wind pollinated, so there's plenty of airborne pollen in the air we breathe. If you're susceptible to the irritations of hay fever, why not try our new Homeopathic Hay Fever Oromucosal Spray.
