Weleda exists to create 100% natural products and we have been doing so since 1921. During this time we have never used synthetic ingredients, non-natural preservatives, artificial fragrances and colourants in our products nor have we ever tested our products on animals.

New parents want the best for their children, so at Weleda, we use ingredients that agree with your baby’s delicate skin and aid its healthy development. Our baby skin care products are free from synthetic fragrances, colours, preservatives, and raw materials derived from mineral oils, such as petroleum or paraffin, which form a film over the skin. Instead, we offer 100% natural ingredients including soothing extracts of organic calendula and chamomile, and gentle essential oils of lavender, ylang-ylang and orange - warming, nourishing and nurturing.

Calendula
For centuries, Calendula has been known as a medicinal plant to aid healing and reduce inflammation. Due to its antiseptic properties, Calendula also helps protect the skin. Sweet Almond Oil
Renowned for its naturally softening and soothing action, sweet almond oil has long been at the heart of gentle beauty treatments. It’s one of the least stimulating oils around, so it is especially well suited to the care of sensitive skin. Chamomilla
The annual Chamomile is a wonderful plant of air and light with its finely divided leaves and radiant yellow flower centre that holds a little dome of air inside, while dispersing a glorious scent across the fields. The virtues of Chamomile have been recognised since antiquity. It was used by the ancient Egyptians and Greeks for fevers, and is still valued today for its soothing and calming properties.

Baby Skin
A baby’s skin is five times thinner than that of an adult’s and is easily permeated by a diversity of substances, including those found in skin care products. Our Weleda Baby Skincare range contains only natural plant-based oils which are most closely related to the sebum in our skin, are easily absorbed to nourish and protect skin, and allow the skin to breathe healthily.
The Weleda Baby range is already recommended by 70% of midwives in Germany (Emnid-Studie 2003) and understandably it’s been dermatologically-tested not just on healthy skin, but also on easily-irritated skin that is prone to dermatitis and eczema. Baby Bathtime
When a baby is born, the skin is protected with its own natural oils and it is important not to strip these from the skin when cleansing. Gently bathing with plain water is recommended for babies skin in the first month. Soothing bath products free from detergents are then advisable for bath time. The Weleda baby Calendula skincare range is the natural choice for mild cleansing, for baby massage, moisturising face or body, and protecting the nappy area.

Stretch Mark Massage Oil 100ml (formerly Pregnancy Body Oil)

The Weleda Baby range has been voted Top Skincare Brand in the highly-respected midwife-tested TIPS awards. Even to be nominated for the TIPS awards, brands need to meet the strict midwife criteria including standards of ethics and naturalness. Products must be free from harsh detergents and artificial additives such as synthetic fragrance, and company policy needs to support breastfeeding and provide parents with the latest advice on baby skincare.
For the third time Weleda has been voted TIPS ‘TOP SKINCARE BRAND’ with seven of our products winning ‘Best of the Best’ in their categories.

Natural Health and Beauty Awards 2009 Fabulous news, Weleda Baby was awarded 'highly commended' in the category Best Eczema Range in the Natural Health and Beauty Awards 2009. This new category was created to show products most suitable for people with eczema. This couldn't be better timing, in the same week that a new study was published in the journal of the Royal Society of Medicine showing a 40% rise in eczema in this country in the previous four years - the worst statistic in Europe, affecting an estimated 5.8 million people in England - which researchers are partially attributing to the use of detergents and soaps in other toiletries. |

Lifescape Beauty Awards 2008 At the end of 2008 Weleda Baby also won Best Babies’ & Children’s Range in the Lifescape Beauty Awards recognising ethical brands.
