Weleda have just announced that they have come second in Top Santé Health & Beauty magazine’s Glow Awards with their range of natural and organic cosmetics.
Jayn Sterland, Weleda’s marketing manager, commented:
We are delighted to begin the New Year with a new award, in Top Santé magazine’s Glow awards, which recognise the top health and beauty brands in the industry. Weleda came second in the Natural Beauty category, beating 10 other top natural and organic beauty brands. This is particularly encouraging because the Top Santé readership is very mainstream, which means that our range not only wins many top green awards from the cognoscenti but is also a firm favourite with the masses. It is a great way to head into 2011 because it’s our anniversary – let’s hope it’s the start of a very successful year!
Weleda, originally founded in 1921 in Switzerland, celebrates 90 Years of natural health and beauty this year. Weleda established a company in the UK as early as 1925, and today has its British head quarters in Derbyshire where the company also has 15 acres of Demeter-standard herb gardens which it tends organically using strict biodynamic standards. Weleda UK grow over 200 species in Derbyshire, and internationally the Weleda Group has the largest medicinal gardens worldwide.
As the original green beauty pioneer, social and environmental concerns have been central to Weleda’s philosophy since it was first founded. What Weleda cannot produce itself in its organic gardens, is sourced ethically from partners across the world. Weleda has established over 100 fair trade partnerships with organic producers, many being small scale farming initiatives which also protect local communities. Weleda is continually improving its ecological footprint, switching to renewable energies, using environmentally-friendly construction, and working towards becoming carbon neutral.
Weleda were up against many other top natural and organic brands in the Top Santé shortlist, including Neal’s Yard, Trilogy, Aromatherapy Associates, Aveda, Dr Hauschka, REN, Aveeno and Jurlique.
