The Weleda biodynamic garden in Ilkeston
Cultivating nature, inspiring wellbeing.
At Weleda, we believe that when nature thrives, so do we. Our 13 acres of gardens are a living reflection of this philosophy - places where medicinal plants, wildlife and healthy soils exist in harmony, nurtured through biodynamic principles and a deep respect for the natural world. Every seed we sow, every flower we harvest and every habitat we create reflects our commitment to working alongside nature rather than controlling it. The gardens provide the botanicals used in our medicines and skincare, while also offering a sanctuary for pollinators, birds and countless other species that help keep our ecosystems healthy and resilient. Yet these gardens are more than places where plants are grown. They are places of inspiration, learning and connection. We hope that as you explore, you'll discover how thoughtful, nature-friendly gardening can enrich biodiversity, support wildlife and bring beauty and wellbeing into everyday life. Whether you have a window box, a garden or a community green space, there are simple ways we can all help nature flourish. Here, healing begins long before a product is made. It starts in the living soil beneath our feet, grows through the plants we carefully tend, and is nurtured by the enduring relationship between people and nature.

In the mood for a forest therapy session? You've come to the right place.
For those looking for something a little more immersive, we also offer forest therapy sessions. 'What is forest therapy, you ask? The term forest therapy (sometimes known as forest bathing) originated in Japan, where it was developed to explore the many benefits of spending time immersed in nature. Since then, numerous scientific studies have shown that time spent in natural environments can help reduce stress and anxiety, lower blood pressure, boost the immune system, improve mood and increase overall wellbeing. Most of us instinctively know that we feel better when we're surrounded by nature, yet modern life often leaves us feeling disconnected from the natural world and from ourselves. Forest therapy offers an opportunity to gently reconnect. In a safe, welcoming and unhurried way, you'll be invited to slow down, engage your senses and experience nature more deeply. Keen to find out more? Be sure to discover an overview of what your experience will include:
- You'll be guided through a series of gentle invitations designed to help you notice, explore and connect with the beautiful woodlands and meadows of Weleda. The experience concludes with a foraged tea ceremony, followed by a mindful wander and informal exploration of Weleda's unique Derbyshire gardens.
- Your guide for the session will be Matt, a member of Weleda's gardening team and a CMA-certified Forest Therapy Practitioner, who will help create a relaxed and supportive environment throughout the experience.
- As a special memento of your visit, you'll receive a Weleda's gift bag. You'll also have the opportunity to enter an end-of-season prize draw to win £100 worth of Weleda products by sharing feedback on your experience.
- Whether you're looking for a moment of calm, a chance to recharge, or simply an opportunity to spend time in beautiful surroundings, Forest Therapy offers a unique way to experience the restorative power of nature.
- There is no fitness level required, no special knowledge needed and no expectation to achieve anything. Simply come as you are.
